Recycling
Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!
As part of the Association’s environmental objective, our Samaan Grove Community launched a recycling venture, on 9th March 2023, in collaboration with Recycling Waste and Logistics (RWL) Limited.
This joint venture exercise ensures that environmental and economic benefits remain rooted in the local landscape – while our Samaan Grove community stays cleaner, Tobago’s streets and waterways become uncluttered by plastics and other garbage; new local industries and jobs can be established, and the nation as a whole will soon benefit from an improved integrated waste management system.
As part of this initiative, our current waste management system now includes the separation of recyclables from garbage within our respective properties. These will be further handled via sorting, segregating, and densifying into commodities (see images below) for worldwide exports and/or local re-use very soon.
Packing Required for Recyclables (By SG Property Management and Residents)
- All recyclables must be placed in Refuse/garbage bags and/or used feed bags – Clear/Transparent/Translucent (see-through) coloured bags.
- Plastic/Glass/Aluminium/TetraPak – can be bagged together. Only paper/cardboard products should be stored separately and kept dry
- No garbage (not limited to food wastes and non-recyclables etc.)
Recycle Collection Day (by RWL/TRRI)
The collection is standardised every Monday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Additional benefits from the recycling program include:
Monthly reports on recycling data will be supplied by RWL. The Association can use this data to inform and advise residents on potential operational issues detected and propose amendments that will be vital if our community wants to enter into a long-term partnership arrangement with RWL.
